Hiermee werd het oude record van € 72,6 miljoen na ruim anderhalf jaar verbroken. Slechts drie Europese loterijen wisten de kaap van de 100 miljoen euro te doorbreken. Behalve La Primitiva zijn dat ook de Europese loterij EuroMillions en de Italiaanse lotto, de SuperEnaLotto.
Winnaar is afkomstig uit de (nog altijd) Spaanse provincie Catalonië. Het winnende lot werd door deze beste man gekocht aaan de Carrer de Pere IV in het Catalaanse Barcelona. De prijs van € 101,7 miljoen is bruto. De Catalaanse winnaar moet dus ruim 20 miljoen euro overmaken aan het in Catalonië zo gehate Madrid.
De jackpot van La Primitiva staat nu weer op € 3,5 miljoen. Een leuk bedrag, maar het valt in het niet bij de € 101,7 miljoen die afgelopen donderdag werd gewonnen. Momenteel is er slechts één jackpot waar meer dan 100 miljoen inzit. 100 miljoen dollar in dit geval, want het betreft de Amerikaanse loterij MegaMillions.

Meedoen aan La Primitiva kan tegenwoordig eenvoudig via internet. Je doet al mee vanaf € 2,50 per lot. Onlangs won ‘n Australische deelnemer aan La Primitiva een bedrag van 25 duizend euro in deze Spaanse loterij. Deze Australiër was nog nooit in Spanje geweest en had zijn lot voor La Primitiva gekocht via internet.
